Land Australia is part of the Hickinbotham Group, South Australia’s largest, family-owned building and development company. The Group has been in business for over 65 years and has developed over 60 community estates. Being builders as well as developers means the team fully understand the importance of creating communities that consider how designing streets and block orientation with homes in mind, can have a major impact on quality of life.
It’s hard to put your finger on exactly why a master-planned Land Australia community feels better. But it does. There are the obvious things, like the careful balance of residential areas and open spaces; the sense that the designs of the homes are in harmony with each other; and the effort to preserve and incorporate natural elements of the landscape. But that is all part of a bigger picture.
When Land Australia starts working to create a new community, our planners walk the land and think about what it can offer. First, they draw on Land Australia’s own experience in community development, then they apply the latest thinking in what it takes to make a place where people don’t just live, they live well.
Communities are also designed specifically to get the most out of their surroundings, whether it’s Seaside at Moana or the country setting of Eden and Liberty at Two Wells. Since the beginning, Land Australia has worked hard to make its communities more water-wise. At the building stage, and where possible, innovative infrastructure is put in place that allows water to be stored and reused for parks and other amenities.
Today, Land Australia planners ask themselves what this new community will need five, 10 or 20 years from now. Allowances are made for schools, community facilities, shops and transport. It’s about giving communities what they need to grow easily and well in the long term.
Just one example of where Land Australia have delivered a great community outcome is the Andrews Farm development of almost 2000 homes. A thoughtfully designed northern suburb established in the 1980s, all the planning elements have come into play to create a lively and efficient community.
It’s a great place to live and the market knows it. In the last 10 years, the value of Andrews Farm homes have increased by 92.6% according to RP Data. According to the Real Estate Institute of SA’s past president, Greg Nybo, “This is a staggering increase in value and it has helped to set up families for life.” So Land Australia master-planned communities don’t just deliver for home owners, they’re also a great opportunity for investors.
